Minimum Qualifications
Residency
You must live or work in Autauga or Chilton Counties for at least 9 months before applying.
You must be a U. S. Citizen or a permanent resident.
Need
If the home your are living in:
- is structurally unsafe
- has electrical, plumbing or unsanitary conditions
- has crowded living conditions
- used 30% or more of income for housing
- is not properly suited for a disabled person
Ability to Pay
If you do not qualify for other home loans and your income falls within HUD guidelines, you may qualify to apply.
You must also have:
- steady monthly income
- decent credit report of about 550
Willingness to Partner
Sweat Equity hours will be required before moving into your home.
- A married couple, not disabled, must complete 400 hours.
- A married couple, disabled, must complete 200 hours.
- A single, not disabled, must complete 200 hours.
- A single, disabled person, must complete 100 hours.
If you are selected, you must agree to a monthly down payment of 2% of your income until you move in.
**Habitat does not charge interest on their loans.
